Hi
Nursery,
I am
missing you all so very much and have loved the updates I have been receiving
from your grown-ups with lots of fabulous pictures of your learning.
I will
be in school this week and will be calling you all at some point for a
catch-up, I can’t wait!
Don’t
forget to ask your grown-ups to email pictures of your learning and activities
to nursery@hilltop.doncaster.sch.uk and I can share these on the blog so your
friends can see what you have been doing too!
Mr Bear
and Jenie Jigsaw have been doing some research on the internet to come up with
this week’s challenges – they hope you enjoy them!
Here
are your phonic challenges for the week (Scroll further down the page to see
some practical Maths activities for this week):
You could begin your days by singing the ‘Days of
the week’ song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtQcnZ2JWsY
You could also talk to your grown-ups about the
weather and if you are feeling up to a super challenge – name the day that it
was yesterday and the day it will be tomorrow!
Monday:
Phonics –
Warm up by singing the ‘Jolly jingles’ song on YouTube (you don’t have to sing
them all in one go, you could sing a few each day)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euxN7LGOoLc
Today, you are
going to need some letter sounds and some play dough to make a phonics
telephone! Look at the picture below to help you.
Ask your grown-ups
to tell you a sound and see if you can find it on your phonics telephone!
Challenge: Can you have a go at finding
and pressing the sounds you will need to spell the words: cat, sun, pin and
top?
I
would love to see some pictures of you using your phonics telephone!
Maths-
Today
your tricky challenge is to match ladybirds to their leaves. The ladybirds will
have spots on their shells and each one needs sending to the correct numbered
leaf. Follow this link and ask your grown-up to select the ‘matching’
challenge. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/ladybird-spots
You
can choose the level of challenge by selecting either 1-5, 6-10 or 1-10.
Challenge:
Can
you have a go at drawing your own ladybird with spots?
Tuesday:
Phonics – log on to phonicsplay.co.uk. Play flashcard speed sounds (phase 2) and practise
saying all of the sounds. How many could you remember? Are you getting faster
at naming each sound?
I hope you are ready for some fun again today! Your challenge is
to make your own paper chain name like the picture below.
You will need to cut some paper into strips and have a go at
independently writing each sound in your name on a separate strip of paper.
When you have done this, use glue/sellotape to secure the strips of paper
together into circles, making a paper chain!
Challenge: You could have a go at adding your
surname onto the paper chain too or you could even make one for a member of your
family!
Maths- Warm your maths brains up by singing our ‘Count to 20’ song with
our favourite character – Big Walrus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0Ajq682yrA
Today Mr Bear and Jenie need your help to contact some of their
superhero friends. Below, they have added some telephone numbers for their
friends and they would like you to phone the superheroes by selecting the
correct numbers. You could use a telephone/tablet/laptop to do this, or you
could ask your grown up to lay out your number cards like this:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
0
Spiderman: 1 3 7 2
Elsa: 9 4 6 8
Batman: 5 0 1 3
Rapunzel: 2 4 6 8
Chase: 1 3 5 7
Anna: 2 7 4 5
Iron Man: 3 4 9 7
Princess Poppy: 4 1 2 8
Hulk: 6 3 9 0
Peppa Pig: 0 8 5 1
Be sure to let the characters know that Mr Bear and Jenie are ok
and that they will phone them soon.
Wednesday:
Phonics – Sing the phonics song 2 on
YouTube and see if you can spot any of the sounds in your name when they come
onto the screen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BELlZKpi1Zs
Are you ready for
some dancing today? I hope so! Your challenge for today is to play ‘Musical
letters’. Lay out the letter sounds from your home learning pack on the floor
and ask your grown-up to play your favourite song. When the music stops, jump
onto a letter and stand suuuuuuper still! Your grown-up will ask you which
sound you have jumped on to – can you tell them?
Challenge: Name something beginning with
that sound each time the music stops.
Maths- Today is the day for dancing,
click onto this link to count along with the Macarena! The song does count to
100, but you could just join in to 20 if you wish - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGKXZVxAffM
Time
to get ready for some more dancing! But this time your game is ‘Musical maths’.
Your grown-ups will lay out the number cards from your home learning pack onto
the floor. Dance to another favourite song and when the music stops, can you
jump onto a number? Your grown-up will ask you which number it is and if you
get it right, the music will start to play again – Good luck!
Challenge: When you have identified each
of the numbers, can you order them, starting from 0? If you want to challenge
yourself even more, you could then order them from 20/10, all the way down to
0!
Thursday:
Phonics – Using your log in for Oxford Owl, choose a
new story to read. Look at the front cover and guess what you think might happen
in the story. Can you spot any letter sounds that you know in the title?
Can
you spot the characters in the story, how might they be feeling/why?
Challenge:
Can
you recall the events that happened in the story? Tell your grown-up your
favourite part of the story – you could even draw a picture to show your
favourite part if you want to!
Maths- Warm up your brains by choosing
either the Big Walrus or Macarena counting song!
I
wonder which numbers you will see the most of? Which will you see the least of?
Can you see any door numbers that are the same age as you or somebody in your
family?
Challenge:
Can
you write the numbers down that you saw? When you have done this, you could
count how many different numbers that you saw!
Fun
Fridays:
Well
done for completing the tricky challenges for Phonics and Maths this week
Nursery – I hope you have a super fun Friday and I cannot wait until we can
share those fun times together again!
Creative time:
This
week, your challenge is to have a go at making your own nature bracelet! This
is a super fun activity which is simple and easy to do.
All
you will need is some sellotape/masking tape and some signs of nature from your
garden or what you have collected on your daily walk.
PE time:
Today,
your PE challenge is to have a go at some alphabet yoga poses! Look at the
picture below and see if you can have a go at these poses for each letter of
the alphabet – Good luck!
