Hello Nursery, we hope you are well and staying safe in the sunshine. It would be lovely to see what you have been doing outside this week so don't forget to send in some sunny photos to nursery@hilltop.doncaster.sch.uk.
Here are your challenges for this week:
You could also talk to your grown-ups about the weather and if you are feeling up to a super challenge – name the day that it was yesterday and the day it will be tomorrow!
For the Maths sessions this week, Mr Bear and Jenie would like you to watch ‘Numberblocks’ on BBC iPlayer; one episode a day. Start with the first video on the webpage and each day choose the next one in the sequence.
Monday
Phonics
Using a paint brush and water you can make a
masterpiece in the sunshine, if you don’t have a paintbrush maybe you could use
your adults mop. With a bucket of water, you can dip your brush in and paint
the water onto the floor outside to make graphemes (letters), you’ll have to be quick
though as the sunshine could dry up your picture very quickly! How many graphemes can you make before the water dries? *Remember to use the rhymes that we say in school to help us form our
sounds – see picture below for rhymes*
Maths
Go on a nature hunt, how many things on the list can
you collect?
2 red leaves
1 smooth stone
3 yellow flowers
2 small twigs
1 piece of rough bark
3 green leaves
1 seed
2 purple petals
Challenge
Can you count how many objects you have altogether?
Make sure you keep all of your treasures as you will
be needing them tomorrow.
Tuesday
Phonics
Using all of the things you found on your nature hunt
yesterday, can you draw a picture of each item you have found? Tell your adults
the initial sound for each item, can you hear any other phonemes?
Challenge
Ask your adult to help you to label your creations by
helping you find the correct phoneme cards or writing the letters for you to
write over the top, just like we do in school.
Maths
Ask your adult for a mirror and using your objects
from your nature hunt, place a set of items in front of the mirror e.g. 2 red
leaves. How many leaves are in the mirror? How many leaves are there altogether
(in front of the mirror and in the mirror)? Well done! You have doubled your
items. How many doubles can you make using your treasures?
Wednesday
Using all of your treasures you have found, feel
each one – how does it feel? Is it warm or cold? Smooth or rough? Soft or hard?
Tell your adult and they can write what you have said on your picture. Can you
tell your adult the initial and final sounds of each word?
Challenge
Can you write any of the words
on your picture?
Maths
Draw a large butterfly, can you
make each side the same?
Draw and colour 5 spots that
will fit inside your butterfly’s wings.
Remember to count the spots to
make sure you only have 5. Can you make a pattern on your butterfly using the
spots? Make sure you do not stick them down as you will be needing them
tomorrow.
Phonics
Using your treasure and
anything else you can find around the house or in the garden, can you make
these letters S A T P I N? What other letters can you make?
Challenge
Can you make your name with
your treasures?
Maths
Using your butterfly and spots
from yesterday, can you place one spot on each wing? How many spots are there
altogether? Double 1 is 2. Can you do the same with 2 spots? What is double 2?
If you put 3 spots on one wing and 2 on the other, is this a double?
Challenge
If you put your butterfly in
front of the mirror, how many spots do you have altogether? Is this a double?
